At the end of 2012, my Chinese Astrology teacher Lily Chung had written this book in Chinese, which became a bestseller in Hong Kong. Lily’s approach to analyzing Chinese Astrology or Bazi charts was very different from the traditional weak-strong approach. I had started studying with her in October 2009 in San Francisco and I can still recall very clearly our first day as her Flow method was very radical yet effective.
I am grateful that Lily approached me to translate in full the book from Chinese into English. At that time, I was moving back to Dubai from Hong Kong and the translating and writing was done when I was literally couch surfing in the homes of friends in the first six months of 2013.
With Lily’s track history of publishing previous Chinese Astrology books, we were given the go ahead with Create Space publishing (now Kindle Direct Publishing) to publish this book. I learnt about editing and layout as some of the designers were not familiar with Chinese characters, especially with the charts and tables.
In October 2013, I remember the moment of achievement and anticipation when Lily showed me the first proof copy of the book during our annual classes in San Francisco. I also went onto the roof of a residential building in San Francisco with the Trans America pyramid in the background to take a promotional photo with the book and to commemorate this moment in time.
This was the book that literally started it all for me with regard to Chinese Astrology and I am very grateful for my teacher to have given me this opportunity. The book went on to become very popular with those studying and practicing Chinese Astrology. In 2018, it was translated into Russian and became a best seller there as well.
